Find Someone to Help Me Save the Earth!

Find Someone to Clean Up the Earth!

Jailtime

A enormous clusterfuck of epic proportions is upon us. I decided to hook the kid and the parents up a couple weeks ago - against my first instinct - and guess what happened... they're all in jail! They hooked up and started wheeling and dealing, mixing contacts and selling dope and whatnot. What a freakin' mess! And of course, I feel responsible for it all. I think I'm gonna bail em out. They have no one but me now, and since this is kinda my fault I think I should help them get back on their feet. I'll let you know how THAT goes. Oh and after all this dealing with regular annoying customers would be the easiest thing in the world. I should be so lucky... yeah right. I'll just look for someone find them and then have them walk all over me. As per usual.

Awkward

You thought last month was awkward central? Try Awkwardville - population: me, founded: yesterday! I mean, geesh. The parents are super sketchy. Both parents have been to prison multiple times, for drugs, intent to distribute, tax evasion, insurance fraud, and child endangerment. It's probably best they never kept the kid, cause she probably would have turned out a lot worse than she already did. Not that she's terrible, but c'mon... she's not the brightest star in the sky. I'm not sure how to approach the subject. Do I get involved in these people's personal lives? If I do, it could set quite a precedent. And I know, I know: I'm already dealing in personal lives, right? But this is different. I dunno. I'll figure it out and let you guys know what went down. I'm thinking her parents wrote this: To the Bracelet I Stole From Disneyland. Haha. But really, I'm gonna head home early and take the weekend off from doing address find. Too much to deal with without having to find people, ya know?

Background Checking the Parents

Um, so this is awkward. Remember how anticlimactic the people search for that long lost daughter turned out? I was really bewildered. I mean, they hadn't been in touch for years - why wouldn't she want to reconnect? Anyway, since I had learned so much about finding people and phone listings, I decided I would do a background search on the parents themselves... I don't want to jump the gun, but they're a little sketchier than they first appeared. I'll let you know when I do. In the meantime, twingly goes beta!

Found Her - So What?

We heard from her. It was a little anticlimatic to be honest. She was less interested in being found than we'd thought. She just wrote a paragraph-long note saying thanks for finding her, but she was happy with her life and didn't need any help. Weird, huh? I guess the secret to being a people finder is just to find a person who wants to be found. Anyway, check out those links and get to me. Also, I liked this article about Olive Oil for the Cultured Girl. Oh, and good tips about vitamins online

Finding the Long Lost Daughter

Found her! Yes, it was that easy, just a matter of a month. I guess I've become a lot better at person search as a result. You could even call me a people search. Here's where we found her using people search now.  We didn't need a professional after all!  I found that site after just a quick online search.  Turns out she did get married, and once we searched her married name, voila! She came right up! Full story, we haven't heard from her yet.  We just got her snail mail address.  So we sent her a letter, and we're hoping to hear back any day now. We'll keep you posted. In the meantime, check out these hilarious everyday luxuries.

Learning Better Ways to Search

I never realized how much there was to trying to track someone down. When I agreed to help that couple I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into--or how many resources I'd have at my disposal. I decided to bring in some big guns and found someone who does this people search thing full time. I can do things like finding a holiday decorator, but finding someone's long lost child just felt too important to take on by myself. Fortunately there are a lot of people who do people search for a living. The person I found has been kind enough to share a lot of her resources with me, including sites like this address search. So far we've been able to track the missing daughter's progress through three different states. We're working toward finding a current address, but it's been a little challennging because she has a more common name. That and we think she may have gotten married--but we're determined to find her now. I've been contacting people who might have known her to make sure we're tracking the right person, and so far so good. I think that we'll have her in no time! I hope so anyway...

Helping People in 2008

Hey everyone! I'm back from the retreat and man was that fun! I met a few new people this year, and of course looked them up later. People are always sort of pleasantly surprised when you track them down. Anyway, I was telling some of the people on the retreat how I go about finding hard to find things and people, and this one couple got really excited. Apparently they have a daughter who ran away something like 10 years ago--she was having major issues, got involved in a bad crowd and then just took off. She was 18, so the police didn't really do much to help them find her, but they were really hoping to find her now, so I told them I would use all my find person skills to help them out. And if not I told them I would help them find others who search people for a living. I love helping people out, and I really hope I can help this couple out. Wish me luck! I'll keep you updated.

Christmas at the Beach

Hello! I am back and gearing up for the holidays. Surprise, surprise, I am doing a coast beach cleanup. It's really fun, actually. An environmentalist group I belong to goes during the holidays for a week. We travel the coast of California cleaning up beaches during the day and camping at night. People bring their whole families on this retreat. It's awesome! Actually last year I met this awesome guy and his wife, but I forgot to get their number so I could contact them. So, I played web detective and did a people search to get their contact info. I found them in minutes and we've kept in contact the whole year. I even went to visit his family in Tahoe over the summer. I'm so excited that they'll be coming back on the retreat this year too! Anyways I gotta go get some last minute camping gear! Happy Holidays!

Helping People Find Each Other

So here's the first bit off difference I'd like to make in all your lives. Have you ever tried to find someone you've lost touch with over the years? I know it can be very frustrating as there are just too many people in this world (don't get me started on that). The best bit of advice I have to give is using online people search engines. You can search anonymously and have the results in minutes, I couldn't believe it was so easy. The site I used was: find someone, but there are many to choose from. It's best to do research, as with any buying decision. Take a look at these two informative sites:
Search People
Consumer-Advocate.org - Finding People
Hope that helps in your quest to find people, it really is worth reconnecting with special people from your past. It helps you find yourself again

Environmetally Friendly Me!

Hello! My name is Oliver and I am all about getting into the community and getting my hands dirty..well to clean it up anyways. I am very passionate about the environment as well as helping people too. I work at a non-profit organization doing a lot of social work type activities. Most of my environmental work I do on my own, volunteering. I should probably just go join the peace corps, but I think the my efforts are better spent locally. I'm also very passionate about that. I know that there are problems in other places of the globe, but there are also problems in your own town. If everyone took the time to take care of where they live, then there wouldn't be any problems. Ok, there would still be war and hate, I get it. I'm not delusional, just idealistic. Anyways, I thought I'd start a blog to get my feelings out and to spread the word. Just trying to make a difference any way I can!
